T. J. Robinson
T. J.’s love of reading can be traced all the way back to a young boy spending each summer night hidden beneath the bed-covers with a book and flashlight, hoping his parents wouldn’t catch him up well past his bedtime. His first attempt at creating his own stories came when he and his friends would spend the afternoons creating what they thought were fantastically complex story lines and awesome battle scenes with their GI Joe’s and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. His only regret is that he always had to be on the winning side – justifying this by calling it his inner-hero complex. As teenagers he and his friends transitioned from stories with action figures to making movies with camcorders. He will be the first one to tell you that now years later watching the films, he is grateful that they were never able to post them on the internet. He laughs when he thinks that his reputation would have been ruined forever.
Following a long, arduous journey through college and post-grad studies, T. J. was able to finally return to what he loves and once again begin creating stories. He has yet to find anything that gives him the same satisfaction that he finds in creating a story, be it a five-minute bedtime story for his three children or a 500 page novel. His inner-hero complex still burns inside and tends to manifest itself in all of his stories. Luckily, everyone loves a hero who saves the day, just like everyone loves a villain who almost succeeds.
T. J. Robinson currently reside in Mapleton, Utah, with his wife, three children, and Roo, his much too friendly beagle. T. J. spends his days trying to find the time to write in between changing diapers, filming dance recitals, and coaching soccer.
The Academy Defender’s
Book One in the Defender’s Series
Genre: Young Adult
Ex-government agents aren’t supposed to have magical swords, glowing grey eyes, or superhuman speed. Then again, young Lincoln Taylor shouldn’t be able to slow time, stop bullets mid-flight, or turn those former agents into human popsicles.
Back home in North Carolina, Lincoln was a typical teenager, just starting his freshman year of high school. But when puberty suddenly included acquiring powers that belong in the comic books he loves and not real life, Lincoln’s life changed forever. He becomes a defender-in-training at the top-secret Atlas Academy. Once his training’s complete, he’ll join the ranks of other supernatural undercover agents, using his powers to protect world leaders from dangerous assassins and evil conspiracies.
But first, he and his fellow recruits must protect themselves.
For the past ten years an unknown villain has been secretly recruiting young defenders before they’ve gained their powers – before the Academy even knew they exist. Under his leadership, they’ve joined a handful of former defenders eager to rule their one-time allies. With surprise on their side, they invade the Academy and imprison the staff.
After narrowly escaping the initial assault, Lincoln and his friends embark on a daring mission to free the prisoners and defend their home. But for Lincoln the cost to defeat these evildoers probably means losing his new powers forever. It may even mean losing his life.
